The basics

What is Daily Photo Mission?

Daily Photo Mission is a free creative practice tool. Every day you get one photography prompt — a small assignment to point your camera at the world differently. Each mission has a unique number, which becomes a shared hashtag for everyone shooting that day.

It's part journal, part scavenger hunt, part community gallery.

How does it work?
  1. Visit the app each day.
  2. Read your daily mission.
  3. Go shoot it — phone, camera, whatever you've got.
  4. Post your shot on Instagram with the mission's hashtag (#DPM[number]).
  5. Browse the hashtag to see how others interpreted the same prompt.

Getting started

Do I need a fancy camera?

No. The whole point is to practice seeing — not gear. A phone in your pocket counts. Some of the best photos in the community come from phones.

Do I need to be a photographer?

Also no. Daily Photo Mission is built for anyone who wants to look at the world more closely. Beginners, hobbyists, pros — same prompts, same hashtags, same community.

Do I have to shoot every day?

Definitely not. Daily Photo Mission is a steady offering, not a streak app. Skip days. Come back when you can. The point isn't perfection — it's practice.

What if I miss a day?

Each mission has a permanent number, so you can always go back and shoot a past prompt whenever you want. Post it with that mission's hashtag and you'll join the gallery for that day.

The community

How do I see what others posted?

Search the mission's hashtag on Instagram (#DPM12345). The community gallery is built right into the platform you're already using.

Can I submit ideas for prompts?

Yes — please do. Send ideas to info@wyattsmithmedia.com. The best prompts come from the people doing the shooting.

Can I use these prompts for a workshop, classroom, or club?

Yes, with attribution. Daily Photo Mission was built to be shared. If you want to use it in a teaching or community setting, send a note and we'll figure out the best way to support it.
